Self-Transcendence 6-Day Race, New York, 2012 – Manual Lap Counting
The New York event has a long history and is one of the few events, nowadays, to rely on manual lap counters, who operate in 6 hour shifts, counting and time recording every runner’s laps as they pass by.
Alan Young writes “This is the famous scoreboard around 50+ hrs into the 10 day Race” (above)
Alan is hoping to send over photos of the scoreboard as often as possible during the 6-day race (in lieu of chip results) but he does warn that
“They cannot promise to have it always up to date.”
Even so, this will likely be the most up-to-the-minute reporting of distances covered at the race available, so watch the blog here for updates.
