BUF 6-Day Race – 1.20am & a nice night for running…
The lead has changed hands (or should that be feet)? quite a few times today, and the latest reversal sees William back in the #1 spot and beginning to open up the gap between himself & Didier Sessegolo in #2.
Currently William has a 6 mile / 9km advantage having run 330.32 miles / 531.6 km to Didier’s 522.4 miles / 324.6 km, but he’ll be aiming to increase his lead as much as possible during the next few hours.
Quite apart from wanting to put some more distance between himself and Didier, William will now very much be thinking about pushing on for a new M55 age group Scottish, British &or World Record for 6-Day Track. This had always been our pre-race plan, and so far things are running very much as we had hoped.
This race will be William’s last chance to set any M55 6-day records (William is 59 at present and turns 60 in October, after which he’ll be running in the M60 category). This is not something Didier has to worry about yet, as he’s many years younger than William and competing in the M45 catgory.
More as the race goes on…
