6 Day Record Attempts to be made in Athens – April 2009

I have decided to make my second attempt at Scotland’s oldest athletic record – the 567 mile/912km 6 day record from 1882 (yes 1882) – at the Athens International Ultramarathon Festival starting on April 3rd 2009.

En route I will be hoping to pass the recognised World Age-Group record (M55 Track) of Piotr Silkinas (Lithuania) who ran 849kms from 11th-17th March 1998 in Nanango, Australia.

In July this year I was not far short of the record with 532 miles in very hot conditions.  Hopefully with kinder weather conditions and more specific fitness and greater experience I will be able to do it.

As part of my preparation I will travel to Phoenix, Arizona for the Across the Years 72 Hour race on December 29th 2008 – January 1st 2009.
